Alaskan Sport Fishing with Tom Ohaus of Angling Unlimited

The sport fishing season in Alaska is upon us and there’s no one better to discuss it with than Captain Tom Ohaus, the founder and co-owner of Angling Unlimited. The Sitka-based outift was started by Ohaus some 30 years ago in Neah Bay in Washington State and moved northward to the Inside Passage a few years later. Every summer, Ohaus, his partner Chuck McNamee and their crew take anglers out on their fleet of custom-designed Almar boats to fish on some of the richest waters in the state. On board, it’s a mixed of CEO’s, corporate warriors, maybe a well-known politician or two and plenty of folks who simply love to wet a line. I recently had a chance to connect with Ohaus before his 2018 season started.

In a huge state with opportunities for fishing seemingly everywhere, why zero in on Sitka as a base for sport fishing?
