The Hotel Detective probably isn’t telling you something new when he says that one of the biggest changes in luxury travel in the past decade is the desire among the well-to-do to feel ‘at home away’ rather than to feel ‘away away.’
Rather than savoring the rituals of a luxury hotel sojourn, the desire now is to flop down in front of the TV or the computer, order in, or maybe even make dinner. On the other hand, it’s nice to have a rooftop bar and restaurant–and what about a spa?
