The 20 Best Countries for Solo Travelers

By Everett Potter

What are the best countries for solo travelers?

To find the answer  for my Travel + leisure story, I crunched the numbers from the Global Peace Index, which ranks 162 nations for their peacefulness, and the Happy Planet Index, which looks at environmental impact and human well-being in 151 countries to measure where people live long and happy lives.

The resulting 20 best destinations for solo travelers present an amazing mash-up of geography along with radically different cultures, languages, and customs. (Canada represents North America here, as the U.S. didn’t rank highly enough to make the cut.) Safety and happiness prevail in all of them, making any of them ideal for your next solo adventure.

I was wondering since its going to New Zealand what do you think is best to see, They have a trip that leaves over night but since I paid for the nice ocean balcony and the cost seems expensive for the over night times two.Its a conference for my husband when at sea. I am trying to get it all in but I know I will return.I would love to go to Chile next and if you guys go let me know. Also my husband and I are interested in Antartica.thanks for any information.
