Hotels myths are legion and legendary. A popular one, now widely refuted, says that all of your identity and credit card information is stored on your electronic room key card. It isn’t, in fact, but here are five more myths that many travelers believe when they check into a hotel.

1. At brand-name hotels, when they say all of our rooms are the same, they mean it.

Regardless of whether it’s a big brand or an independent hotel, no two rooms are exactly the same in a hotel. How could they be? Of course, that doesn’t mean that a hotel won’t try to convince you otherwise.
